What determines public acceptance
Nuclear projects are decided as much by public confidence as by engineering, and confidence is built by answering safety, regulatory and local impact questions before anyone has to ask them twice. Where an operator communicates only during controversy, every statement is read as defensive. Alongside that sit two practical needs: a supplier base that must be qualified to demanding standards, and a technical workforce that must be developed over a decade.
What we build for a nuclear project
First, safety and regulatory information published in plain language, with the licensing stage and the oversight body clearly identified. Second, a public engagement channel with published questions and answers, which is what prevents an information vacuum. Third, supplier qualification requirements and tender access, given the standards involved. Fourth, workforce and education pathways, because the staffing problem is a ten-year one and starts with visibility.
