A self-hostable forum for a game development community
This NDA project delivered a community forum for game developers: a place to discuss work, share assets and organize community life. We built it end to end as a single full-stack developer over three months, then handed it over so the client could run it themselves.
What we built
- Forum core — threads, posts and community features in Laravel 8 and Vue.js 2, with data in MariaDB.
- Authorization — registration, roles and access control.
- Admin panel — moderation and content management tools.
- Docker setup — a reproducible environment for development and production.
- Handover — documentation and onboarding for the client's team.
Built to be handed over
A solo build succeeds or fails at handover. Containerizing the stack from the start meant the client's team could bring up the same environment used in development, and the admin panel kept day-to-day moderation out of the codebase. Further project details are limited under NDA.
