What a rental platform must solve
Rental marketplaces fail on trust rather than supply. Owners will not list valuable items without protection against damage and non-return. Renters will not pay a deposit to an unverified stranger. Availability across overlapping bookings has to be exact, since a double booking damages both relationships at once. Damage disputes will happen and a platform without a process for them loses the owner permanently.
What we build for one
First, accurate availability calendars with booking holds, since a double booking is the failure that ends participation. Second, deposit handling and verification for both sides, which is what makes an owner willing to list anything worth renting. Third, condition documentation with photographs at handover and return, the evidence that resolves disputes before they escalate. Fourth, pricing by period with a defined dispute process, because how a platform handles the bad transaction determines whether anyone lists a second time.
