The Challenge

Amazon sellers repeat the same manual steps across third-party research tools and the Amazon Ads console: comparing keyword columns by eye, copying rows into spreadsheets, reading suggested bid ranges and uploading bulk campaign files at a set time of day. The pages belong to other companies, so any improvement had to run in the seller's own browser or on their own machine.

What we did

The Solution

We built small, focused tools. A browser extension adds a Sold/Search percentage column, row selection, click-to-sort headers and one-click copy to Jungle Scout's keyword table. A second prototype reads suggested bid ranges in the Amazon Ads keyword table. An Electron desktop app drives Chrome through Selenium to upload advertising bulksheets on a schedule and keeps an upload history.

How It Came Together

Browser extensions and desktop automation for Amazon sellers

Amazon Seller Tools is a set of small automation tools we built for Amazon sellers between August 2021 and January 2022. Each one targets a specific, repetitive task in software sellers already use: Jungle Scout for keyword research and the Amazon Ads console for Sponsored Products campaigns. Every tool runs in the seller's own browser or on their desktop, so none of them depends on changes to those platforms.

Key features

  • Sold/Search column for Jungle Scout — a browser extension adds a column to the keyword table showing what percentage of products were sold from search results, calculated from the table's own figures.
  • Row selection and bulk actions — a checkbox column plus floating buttons to select all rows, delete the selected ones, or copy them as tab-separated text that pastes straight into a spreadsheet.
  • Sort any column — clicking a header sorts rows numerically or alphabetically, after the extension strips non-breaking spaces and percent signs from the numbers.
  • Double-click to copy — double-clicking a row copies it in the same spreadsheet-friendly format.
  • Suggested bid reader — a prototype extension parses the suggested bid ranges in the Amazon Ads keyword table and pairs each range with its bid input.
  • Scheduled bulksheet uploads — a desktop app with four upload slots, each a file and a time of day. At the scheduled minute it uploads the bulksheet to Amazon Ads and waits for the confirmation that the changes are being applied.
  • Upload history — every scheduled run is logged with its date, file and a success or failure status, and the log persists between launches.

Architecture and tech stack

Browser extensions

Both extensions are WebExtensions written in plain JavaScript, with content scripts, a toolbar popup and an options page. The Jungle Scout extension works on the rendered table: it inserts header and body cells that match the table's own markup, builds a sorted index per column for fast re-ordering, and uses the Clipboard API for copying.

Desktop uploader

The bulksheet uploader, Izi Amz Tools, is an Electron app. Its preload script stores upload slots and history with electron-json-storage in the operating system's app-data folder and checks the schedule once a minute. Uploads run through Selenium WebDriver and a bundled ChromeDriver, launching Chrome with a dedicated profile so the seller's existing Amazon Ads session is reused. The app is packaged with electron-builder, and the Chrome automation targets Windows.

Automation approach

Working inside pages we did not own shaped every tool. The extensions read and extend the markup already on screen instead of calling private APIs, and the uploader drives the real Amazon Ads page through a normal browser session. That kept each tool small, easy to install and independent of any backend.

Our role

We designed and built each tool as a standalone deliverable: the Jungle Scout extension through several versions between August and October 2021, the bid prototype in December 2021 and the Electron uploader in January 2022.

These tools sit alongside our Amazon Relay automation extension for carriers and the in-house Amazon order and shipping widgets. For similar work, see our AI integration and automation and e-commerce development services.
