How earthworks is priced
Excavation, levelling and backfill are priced by volume, adjusted for soil type, access and where the spoil goes. Clients know the plot and the plan, not the cubic metres, so every enquiry becomes a site visit before a number exists. Contractors are also chosen on equipment: the right machine for the access constraints, and enough of them to finish inside a programme that the following trades depend on.
What we build for an earthworks contractor
First, volume-based pricing with a calculator by area, depth and soil type, producing an estimate and a scope. Second, equipment fleet published, since access constraints determine which machines can work and clients need to know you have them. Third, spoil handling and disposal terms, the cost everyone forgets and argues about afterwards. Fourth, project references with volumes and duration, plus booking with site location, because programmes are tight and availability decides the award.
