Why donation is lower than willingness
Willingness to donate blood substantially exceeds actual donation, and the gap is administrative: people do not know whether medication, travel, a tattoo or a recent illness disqualifies them, do not know when they can donate again, and cannot book a time that fits. Urgent appeals for specific blood types circulate as unverified messages, while centres have no direct channel to their own past donors.
What we build for a donation centre
First, an eligibility checker covering medication, travel, recent procedures and intervals, which removes the main reason willing people do not come. Second, appointment booking, since a queue of unknown length deters repeat donors. Third, current blood type needs published, so appeals are verifiable rather than rumour. Fourth, a donor account with history and next eligible date, plus notifications, which turns one-time donors into regular ones.
