Why service centres are crowded
Physical queues at service centres are largely self-inflicted. People arrive without the right documents and have to return, they arrive at peak times because no appointment exists, and they come back repeatedly to ask about an application that has no visible status. Each of those is an information problem being solved with floor space and staff time, and each is entirely solvable before anyone leaves home.
What we build for a service centre
First, a service catalogue with document checklists generated from the applicant's circumstances, which removes the largest cause of repeat visits. Second, appointment booking with real capacity, spreading load away from the peak hours. Third, application status tracking, replacing the visit made only to ask. Fourth, live queue status per branch, so people can choose a quieter location or time. Where a service can be completed entirely online, it should be, and the site should say so plainly rather than describing a counter procedure.
