What separates nursery from kindergarten
Parents of infants and toddlers are making a far more anxious decision than parents of preschoolers. They need to know the staff-to-child ratio, how adaptation to the group is handled over the first weeks, how feeding and sleep work, and what happens when a child cries all morning. Availability is the other constraint: infant places are limited and parents plan months ahead without being able to see whether a place exists.
What we build for a nursery
First, ratios, adaptation programme and daily routine published in detail, since that is what the anxiety attaches to. Second, place availability by age group and month, because parents plan a return to work around it. Third, staff qualifications and turnover, which is what experienced parents actually check. Fourth, daily updates with photos, feeding and sleep logs, the feature that makes a parent stop worrying and start recommending you.
