How cinema tickets get bought
Cinema is a last-minute decision made on a phone: what is on nearby, at what time, are there decent seats left, and can I pay now. Any step that breaks — a schedule that is a day out of date, a seat map that does not work with a thumb, a payment that fails — sends the group to a different cinema, because the decision has a twenty-minute window. On the operations side, schedules change weekly and are maintained in one system and retyped into the website.
What we build for a cinema
First, showtimes fed from one source, so the site is never a day behind the box office. Second, seat selection built for a phone, which is where the purchase actually happens. Third, online payment with instant ticket delivery, including the queue-free entry that follows from it. Fourth, concession pre-ordering and loyalty, because that is the margin, and it is currently only sold at a counter with a queue in front of it.
