How pharmacies order
Pharmacies reorder constantly from several distributors, comparing availability and price on thousands of items, and currently do it through representatives and phone calls. Expiry dates matter as much as stock, since short-dated product is a liability for the pharmacy. Regulatory documentation must accompany every delivery. The distributor sales team spends its capacity on transcription rather than on range expansion.
What we build for a distributor
First, a pharmacy ordering portal with live stock and expiry dates, since short-dated stock is a real commercial issue for the buyer. Second, contract pricing per account with reorder from history, because most of the order is a repeat. Third, delivery route scheduling, so pharmacies know when they will be served and can order accordingly. Fourth, regulatory documentation available per shipment, which is a compliance requirement and currently arrives on paper.
