How farmed fish is traded
Farmed fish is bought live or freshly chilled, by size grade, by restaurants, markets and wholesalers who need to know what is available today and how it will be transported. Everything is arranged by phone. A second and often better business sits beside it: fingerlings for stocking other ponds, and stocking services for private lakes, both of which are searched for and almost never found.
What we build for a fish farm
First, species and size grade availability by week, since that is the trading conversation in full. Second, standing orders for restaurants and markets with delivery days and live transport capability stated. Third, fingerling sales as their own line, with species, size, price and season — a market with real demand and little visible supply. Fourth, pond stocking and consultation services, which private lake owners pay for and cannot currently locate.
