How meal plans are actually used
Prepared meal plans are bought as a subscription — a week or a month of meals at a calorie target — and the operational reality is constant change: a customer travelling, a day they will not be home, a dislike of one dish. Every one of those arrives as a message to someone who edits a spreadsheet. Nutrition data is the other constant question, since most customers are buying against a specific goal.
What we build for a meal prep service
First, subscription plans by calorie target and duration, with the weekly menu published, since that is the product. Second, self-service pause, skip and swap, which removes the daily message traffic and is the main reason customers churn. Third, delivery windows and address management, because early morning delivery is the whole operational constraint. Fourth, full nutrition data per meal, which is why this customer is paying a premium in the first place.
