Why pitch bookings collide
Pitch bookings are taken by whoever answers the phone and recorded wherever they happen to be standing. On a quiet Tuesday this works; on a Saturday it produces two teams and one pitch. Players, for their part, want to see which slots are free right now and book without negotiating, and they organise late in the evening when nobody is at the desk. Regular teams that play the same hour every week re-book manually, every week, forever.
What we build for a facility
First, real-time slot booking per facility, which eliminates the double-booking entirely. Second, prepayment or a deposit that holds the slot, because unpaid holds on peak hours are the most expensive gaps you have. Third, recurring bookings for regular teams, set once instead of arranged weekly. Fourth, automatic release and resale of cancelled slots, so a Saturday cancellation at 6pm can still be filled by 8pm.
