Two markets, one crop
Field tomatoes go either to fresh wholesale, where calibre, firmness and appearance decide the price, or to processing, where brix, acidity and tonnage per day are all that matter. Processors contract before the season and need to know your area, expected yield and harvest window. Growers who publish neither end up selling everything fresh at harvest, into the most crowded two weeks of the year.
What we build for a field tomato farm
First, separate grade pages for fresh and processing, each with the parameters that market actually screens on. Second, area, expected yield and harvest window published, which is what a processor needs before contracting. Third, forward contract enquiries, since processing volume is agreed months ahead. Fourth, logistics capability, because delivering to a plant on a daily schedule is a requirement most growers cannot demonstrate and every processor asks about first.
