What passengers actually need
Urban and suburban passenger transport is used by people who need to know which route serves their destination, when the next vehicle arrives, and what it costs. That information is usually unavailable, so passengers wait without knowing and choose alternatives when they can afford them. Operators, meanwhile, hold municipal contracts awarded on service quality metrics they cannot evidence without data they do not collect.
What we build for an operator
First, route and schedule information published properly, with stops mapped, which is the basic service currently missing. Second, live vehicle tracking, since knowing whether to wait is what makes public transport tolerable. Third, fare structure and payment options stated, including any passes. Fourth, service quality data for municipal contracts, because operators are judged on punctuality and coverage and should be able to evidence both when a contract comes up for renewal.
